EagleFiler 1.9.15
August 20th, 2024 (EagleFiler)Version 1.9.15 of EagleFiler is now available.
EagleFiler makes organizing and managing your information easy. It lets you archive and search mail, Web pages, PDF files, word processing documents, images, and more. Use it to collect information from a variety of sources. Browse different types of files using a familiar three-pane interface. Organize them into folders and annotate them with tags and notes, or leave everything in one folder and pin-point the information you need using the live search. Since EagleFiler stores its library in Finder format, you can use it in concert with the other tools in your Mac ecosystem.
EagleFiler is a digital filing cabinet, a research assistant, snippet collector, and document organizer. You can use it to write a journal, track all the files for a project or job, manage your bookmarks, save your favorite Web articles, store financial statements and receipts, run a paperless office, plan a trip, collect your course notes, archive your e-mail correspondence, search mailing list archives, research a purchase, remember recipes to cook or books to read, store scientific papers, sort photos, gather legal case notes, or assemble a scrapbook. It’s the most flexible tool on your Mac.
This is a free update that includes the following enhancements:
- Improved EagleFiler’s support for importing from X/Twitter. When you press the capture key, tweets are now imported as HTML files rather than as plain text files.
- This works in Safari, Google Chrome, Brave Browser, and Microsoft Edge. Previously, only Safari was supported.
- This requires enabling JavaScript access in Web browsers.
- Extraneous text is removed, and the filename and title are also improved.
- When capturing a Web page in Safari, EagleFiler has long been able to preserve the selected text in the record’s note. This can be useful for recording that a certain part of the page is important but also storing the full context in which it appears. This now works with Google Chrome, Brave Browser, and Microsoft Edge, too.
- When viewing a PDF file in Two Pages mode, the first page is now displayed as the cover, with pages 2 and 3 being the first ones displayed as a pair.
- Updated the following sections of the manual:
- Made some improvements to EagleFiler’s detection of the current library when using the capture key.
- If macOS incorrectly reports that EagleFiler is damaged when installing or updating the app, we now have a Download Fixer tool to help.
- Fixed a problem where the name of the current Safari profile could be included in the filename when capturing from Safari. For best results, be sure to follow the Enabling JavaScript Access in Web Browsers instructions.
- Fixed a bug where indexing could be delayed if another library was busy verifying.
- Fixed importing of FastMail message files on macOS 15.
- Fixed a bug where the Activity window could look like it was indexing when indexing was disabled.
- Fixed a bug where capturing from Twitter didn’t work from the
x.com
domain. - Added
RevealRecordInParent
to the esoteric preferences, which lets you control whether opening a record link shows the record in its containing folder rather than in the Records source. - Improved the layout of 4th-level section headers in the PDF version of the manual.
- Updated to version 1.6.1 of the SkimNotes framework.
EagleFiler 1.9.15 works with macOS 10.13 through macOS 15. Older EagleFiler versions are available for older versions of macOS. In-depth information about EagleFiler is available in the manual.
