EagleFiler Source URLs
September 27th, 2007 (EagleFiler)When importing a URL or Web archive, EagleFiler puts the host name in the From column. The full URL wouldn’t fit, and the host name is usually a good indication of where the Web page came from or who wrote it. However, this has led some people to think that EagleFiler only stores the host name, which is not correct. The full source URL is available:
- By choosing Edit ‣ Copy Source URL.
- By choosing Record ‣ Open Source URL or Option-double-clicking a Web archive.
- By hovering over a Web archive in the records list.
- Via the

objects.
In fact, Web archives aren’t the only records in EagleFiler that can have source URLs. They’re also stored when you capture a blog post from MarsEdit, when you convert a Web archive to a rich text document, and when you drag part of a Web page in Safari or NetNewsWire into EagleFiler.
