SpamSieve Testimonials (PowerMail)

After much much searching for a Jaguar compliant email system, I’m delighted to have settled on the combination of PowerMail and SpamSieve.

Spamsieve is invisible, Bayesian and almost always right.…Way way better than Spamfire, which I also bought.

I’d be quite surprised if anybody else’s (free or built-in) spam system worked as well as it does. Not only that, but Michael Tsai is actively developing the program, and very responsive. I hope he makes millions with this little gem.…I see all the whining and hand-wringing in the media about how spam is “destroying the Internet” and costing billions in lost time, etc. And everytime I think, “if these people just bought SpamSieve, we wouldn’t have stories in the media like this.” It honestly has made spam a total non-issue for me.

I love the new feature where you only get notification if there’s real mail. It’s frustrating when you’re in another application and you hear that mail has come in, only to find it’s junk.

I started with SpamSieve yesterday. I “trained” it with some dozens, rather than hundreds, of messages including tens of Spam. I used the “Add Good” and “Add Spam” scripts for that.

Then I set up a SpamSieve filter and waited.....

And it worked first time! It caught all my incoming Spam yesterday and filed them in a Spam folder. Mail which might easily have been marked as spam (opt-in retailer announcements) was correctly filtered.

Easily as good as the “Junk” filter in Apple’s Mail app.

I have PowerMail’s prefs set to synch with Apple’s Address Book and have over 14,000 filtered messages with 99.2% accuracy.

I’ve been using it for about a month now. Every once and awhile some spam slips through the cracks, but that’s better than SpamAssassin which occasionally tagged legitimate mail as spam.

SpamSieve is a great, solid product. I’ve used some of the other alternatives as well. SpamSieve has worked best for me in terms of its overall accuracy. Also, when traveling and using slow connections SpamSieve is so much faster than programs like SpamFire simply because of the way it does its work.

SpamSieve runs with less overhead [than Spamfire], both system and mental.

I am using SpamSieve to deal with all my incoming spam. The program is by far the best I have tried, with no significant false positives.

I’m using SpamSieve with PowerMail, and it really seems to work so far. The way it is designed to work with such a broad range of e-mail clients is neat, and it really works—it is much cleaner than I thought it would be.

Why not try something like SpamSieve, it excellent. You don’t need to reinvent the wheel when Michael Tsai has created a Ferrari.

This program keeps getting better and better. It works very well with PowerMail—the author keeps adding useful features which enhance the mail experience.…Well worth the money—spam is such a pain, but this makes it nearly painless.
