4.6.14   Keeping Spam Messages Out of Gmail’s Archive

The standard Apple Mail setup has you configure Mail to move all spams that SpamSieve catches to a local Spam mailbox under On My Mac. This is to prevent the spam from filling up your mail account and also so that all your spam is consolidated into a single mailbox for easy review and deletion.

With the default Gmail settings, when a message is moved to a local mailbox, Gmail archives the message. Combined with the above, this means that the spam messages that SpamSieve catches will go into your Gmail archive (All Mail). There are two ways to prevent this:
