Spoofed addresses

Here’s a tip for those that think that SpamSieve is missing spam… I’ve had several different spam emails show up in a folder that is processed by Apple Mail rules that I use for aggregating the same type of email that I receive, from L L Bean, Lands End, etc. After training the spam didn’t work, I looked deeper, and although the sender had some sort of garbage name, the actual sending ADDRESS was spoofed to be the same that I normally receive from these two companies.

I assume there is no way to have SpamSieve make the distinction between real and fake?

If you train the good ones as good and the spam ones as spam, SpamSieve will learn that those particular sending addresses are not 100% reliable, and so it will classify the messages based on their content.

Thanks… will do.
