Deleting old messages

I am having trouble deleting old messages.

I have over 100,000 or something ridiculous and every time I delete a few thousand they seem to come back!

I know its not strictly a SpamSieve question but I was wondering if anyone had any advice for getting rid of historical emails?

Sync and rebuild
Assuming I can get rid of my old spam is it better to sync the server and then rebuild my local email boxes or is this not necessary?

Just want my mail program back!

I HATE Spam!!!

It may help to rebuild Mail’s database.

I’m not sure what you mean by “sync the server.”
