I’m a new SpamSieve user. I have been training the program but now I’d like to have a look in my Spam mailbox to see the messages it thinks are bad (spam). Where do I find the mailbox?

The Spam mailbox is normally created in Step 2 of Setting up Apple Mail. It should be under “On My Mac”, probably near the bottom since the mailboxes are sorted alphabetically. You had said that this mailbox already existed on your Mac, so maybe you skipped this step.
In any case, the incoming spam messages will go to whichever mailbox you selected in Step 3.
