Thread: skim notes and searching

    Default skim notes and searching

I find that Skim and EF work great together: I convert my pdf to pdfd bundles, then when I annotate and save, all the annotations appear in EF.

One other great feature is that if I search for some text that is in an annotation, then EF accurately finds the records with this text.

There is one small drawback, though: if I use "Find" to figure out where the annotation is, I get a "Not found". Hence (yet another) feature request: could Find also work on skim annotations?

It’d certainly be nice to be able to do that. I’m not sure whether it’s possible, though. Even Skim doesn’t seem to let you Find within annotations.

Ah, true, I did not even try in Skim first.

I've asked on the Skim mailing list, I'll report here if I get more information.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

Skim does, in fact, allow this. Show Notes Pane and use the search box at the top of the pane. [Not sure when this was introduced]
