No, what SpamSieve does is change the conditions under which the rule’s conditions match (so they only match if the message is spam). It doesn’t affect the rule actions, which continue to be handled...

My understanding is that it’s supposed to work the other way, that Mail checks for blocked senders before applying the regular rules such as SpamSieve. However, server rules and server junk filters...

Thanks for sending the crash log. It does look like Mail hadn’t loaded SpamSieve yet, and it crashed due to a bug:

We’ve not heard any other reports of that happening. It seems unlikely because if you haven’t successfully launched Mail yet on Catalina, the SpamSieve plug-in is probably not even enabled, so Mail...

You can just uninstall it. If your Mail rules are syncing via iCloud, just uncheck the SpamSieve rule on the MacBook Pro, rather than deleting it, so that it doesn’t get deleted on your other Mac.

Not yet. The current priorities are Catalina and SpamSieve 3. Then I plan to take another crack at the Postbox plug-in and/or try to find another way to integrate with it.

Does it make a difference if you have “Always run with root access” checked or unchecked in the preferences?

I think the difference there is that, like I said, no flattening is needed if there is no license agreement. If you do have a license agreement, signing shouldn’t matter because it happens after...

Thanks for the report. I will try to find a workaround to this Catalina bug. In the meantime, it may help to restart your Mac. And the error should not occur when not using a license agreement.

This is probably caused by something else, because SpamSieve doesn’t have any interaction with Mail’s search function, and we’ve never had any other reports of search problems related to SpamSieve....
