This is fine if you\u2019re <a href=\"http:\/\/c-command.com\/dropdmg\/manual-ah\/burning-backups-of-cds\">copying an existing disc<\/a>, but what if you want to burn your own files? <a href=\"http:\/\/c-command.com\/dropdmg\/\">DropDMG<\/a> will let you burn a file\/folder directly, but Mac OS X will set the icon, e.g. to the one with \u201cCDR\u201d printed on it. Here\u2019s how to take advantage of DropDMG\u2019s disk image features to burn a disc with a custom icon:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Create a folder with the name that you want for your disc, and move or copy your files into it.<\/li>\n<li>Choose <a href=\"http:\/\/c-command.com\/dropdmg\/manual-ah\/convert-graphic-to-vo\">File \u2023 Convert Graphic to \u201c.VolumeIcon.icns\u201d\u2026<\/a>. First select the image file that you want to use as the icon, then choose the folder that you just created.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure that <a href=\"http:\/\/c-command.com\/dropdmg\/manual-ah\/use-custom-icon-for-mou\">Use custom icon for mounted image<\/a> is checked in DropDMG\u2019s preferences.<\/li>\n<li>Drag the folder onto DropDMG to create a <tt>.dmg<\/tt> file with the custom icon.<\/li>\n<li>Choose <a href=\"http:\/\/c-command.com\/dropdmg\/manual-ah\/burning-discs\">File \u2023 Burn Image\u2026<\/a> and select the <tt>.dmg<\/tt> file (or Shift-drag the file onto DropDMG) to burn the image.<\/li>\n<\/ol>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When you burn a disk image to CD\/DVD, if the image has a custom volume icon the burned disc will, too.
