SpamSieve normally moves spam messages to the Junk mailbox. When using the
Mail extension, the Move it to the Trash if the spam score is at least
option separates the more spammy messages which are less likely to be mistakes
(in Trash) from the less spammy ones (in Junk), so that you can
concentrate your efforts on reviewing those. (It’s still a good idea to check
that no good messages were caught as spam, rather than emptying the trash or
setting it to auto-delete messages sight unseen.)
For example:
- If you set the score to 99, when you train a message as spam, its
sender will go on SpamSieve’s blocklist, and future messages from the
same name or address will go directly to the Trash. You can also
make your own blocklist rules to match the messages that you
consider to be the most spammy.
- If you set the score to 50, SpamSieve will move all the spam
messages to the Trash instead of to the Junk mailbox.
- To move particular colors to Trash, set the score to: 99 (blue), 95
(gray), 88 (purple), 81 (red), 75 (orange), 50 (yellow). These numbers
are also shown in the tooltips for the colors in the Settings
window.
