Does SpamSieve prevent downloads of pictures in spam mails?

when mail moved a mail to the junk folder it also prevents it from downloading any pictures. Does SpamSieve act in the same way? If it does, does this mean that it is save to click on a mail in the spam folder from SapmSieve?
