Thank you for kind reply as always.

Practically, this function is much convenient for me. I can get this "Open in New Window" function via:

1. Double-click : Records, Sub folders, Trash, and Smart folders,
2. Right-click and select [Open in New Window ] in Context menu : Records, Sub folders, and Trash (for Smart folders, this term is gray-outed for my environment),
3. Select [Files] - [New Browser Window] in EagleFiler menu : tags, and almost other items.

Anyway, I have to read EF manual more thoroughly.

Thank you so much again.

Best regards,

The RocketBox interface is quite good, and I understand is being updated to include MailTags. Although it operates off of Apple Mail, I imagine it in theory could be extended to work off other databases.

That being said, a similar interface would work well: all tags listed with checkboxes, and a selection for and/or on those tags. Similarly, all recipients and senders with multi-select, to/from/any switches and an and/or switch. A textbox to search for subject or message body.

The following was posted (http://c-command.com/blog/2010/08/17/dropdmg-3-0-2/) on the DropDMG blog:

Version 3.0.2 of DropDMG...

The following was posted on the DropDMG blog:

Version 3.0.2 of DropDMG is now available. This is a free update for owners of DropDMG 3.0 that includes the following enhancements:

DropDMG is now localized in French.

Added toolbar buttons to the DropDMG window for directly opening the Layouts and Licenses tabs of the Preferences window.

Added a preference to remove log entries When DropDMG quits.

Creates more tightly compressed ZIP archives than previous versions of DropDMG or the Finder (requires Mac OS X 10.6).

Added a CreateDeviceImages esoteric preference, which lets you create regular disk images instead of device images when dragging a volume onto DropDMG. This is slower but gives the option of setting a custom volume name.

Fixed a bug where DropDMG truncated the suggested volume and base names when using the Ask option.

Fixed a bug in the layout editor where retracting a marquee selection left the icons still selected.

Fixed a bug where DropDMG reported an error when converting encrypted .sparsebundle disk images.

Fixed a bug where using a detached license or layout could cause DropDMG to create extra Info.plist files in nearby folders.

When displaying an internal error, DropDMG now cleans it up and presents an abbreviated version to ensure that the window fits on screen. (The full error information is still included when you click the Send E-mail button.)

Worked around an OS bug that could prevent DropDMG from being able to open its Preferences window.

Tried to work around a problem where the software updater sometimes didn’t ask for the permissions it needed to complete an update.

Updated the disk image layout.

I missed that-which was the point of the thread, I now see- and focused on the next paragraph, which said that the Viewer Panel was functional for all the file formats that EF reads. The lack of zoom makes the doc files per se pretty useless to me. However I can print doc files to EF as pdf files and zoom that way. I had just run into a complicated doc file which printed to three different pdfs ( print format changed to landscape in the middle), and I was hoping that I could just import the single doc file into EF and read it there.

I realized that this thread didn’t have a very clear resolution. The current situation is that I’ve discussed this with the Postbox developers. Due to the architecture of Postbox, SpamSieve integration is a feature that would need to be added on their end. They’ve expressed interest in doing this, and I’ve sent them the necessary technical information. If you’d like this to be a high priority, please tell them.

Thanks. I’m not sure what happened here, since DropDMG does try to check beforehand whether it has the necessary permissions. If this happens again, you can hold down the Option key while installing to force DropDMG to ask for your password.

Thanks for the quick response and sorry for my delayed one (I left on a trip the day after my post). It was helpful to look at the logs. So I think I figured it out: it was SpamSieve -- a second copy of it.

I have my desktop redirecting all incoming mail to an imap account and use spamsieve on it. I also have a laptop on which I previously ran spamsieve as well. When I migrated to the imap setup, I had disabled the spamsieve rule. When I did the upgrade, the rule became active again on the laptop. So I think the reason the messages didn't have any color on the desktop was the laptop was responsible for moving the message to the imap spam folder

I have disabled the rule on the laptop and so far, so good.
