Multiple Copies of SpamSieve?

It seems now when SpamSieve is loaded by Mail.app it’s launching two copies of SpamSieve. I even see two icons in the dock for a few seconds … then one disappears.

This is what’s logged in the console:

01/14/2008 8:58:13 AM SpamSieve[212] Quitting because another copy of this application is running.
01/14/2008 8:58:13 AM SpamSieve[211] Quitting because another copy of this application is running.

To try to troubleshoot I deleted the mail version of SpamSieve on my startup drive. I sent an eMail to myself. When Mail launched SpamSieve I did a “Show in Finder” and the copy it opened was from my TimeMachine drive.

Any ideas how to solve this issue?

Thanks … Joe

This can happen due to a change in the Leopard version of Mail. I will be addressing it with an update to SpamSieve soon. In the meantime, if this problem affects you I suggest launching SpamSieve before launching Mail. Then Mail will see that SpamSieve is already running and will not try to launch it.

This is addressed in SpamSieve 2.6.6.
