mailbox overload causing crash?

I normally use Entourage for my emails but would like to use Mail instead. Problem is that in trying to transfer my existing emails to Mail I managed to transfer multiple copies.
I don’t know whether this is the reason that Mail crashes before I get a chance to look far into it but when it does so it suggests that Spamsieve is the culprit.
I saw the earlier message asking for the diagnostic report log and would send it, but cannot find it. Is the ‘imac-g5.crash’ log the same thing? It seems to record all the crashes I have experienced.
I would like to disable Spamsieve to see if that enabled me to get into Mail and dump the dupe email lists, because I think this may cure the problem, but how can I do that?

That may or may not be the case. Mail tends to blame any plug-ins that it finds installed.

Is that file recent? If so, it might be useful. But I would expect there to be a “Mail_2011-07-28_imac-g5.crash” file in that same folder.

You can temporarily disable SpamSieve by removing its plug-in:

/Users/<username>/Library/Mail/Bundles/SpamSieve.mailbundle

and unchecking the SpamSieve rule in Mail’s preferences.
