Creates a new library to hold a collection of records. You can create a library on your Mac’s internal storage (either in the Documents or Desktop folder, in iCloud Drive or Dropbox, or elsewhere); on an external hard drive, SSD, SD card, or thumb drive; or on a network drive or server (though these can be slow).
Although one EagleFiler library can hold many files/documents from other applications, the library itself is treated as a single document from the perspective of the EagleFiler application. For example:
Splitting Libraries
EagleFiler is designed to support multi-gigabyte libraries with many thousands of files. Thus, it is usually not necessary to split up a large library for performance reasons. However, sometimes people find after using EagleFiler for a while that it makes sense to split one library into two for organizational reasons. To do this, make a folder in your library, and move into it all the folders and files that you want to move to the second library. Create the second library and drag the folder from the first library onto the Records icon in the second library’s source list. After the import has completed, you can then delete the folder from the first library.
Merging Libraries
To combine two libraries, first open both of them in EagleFiler. Drag the Records icon from one library's source list onto the Records icon in the other library's source list. This will import the entire contents of the library, including all of the metadata.
