3.5.13   Importing Mail From PowerMail

There are three ways to import from PowerMail into EagleFiler:

The Export Command

Select some folders or messages and choose File ‣ Database ‣ Export. Choose what you want to export and click the right arrow button. Select Unix Mailbox and make sure that Include attachments and All attachments are both selected; then click Go Ahead. Choose a folder in your EagleFiler library (e.g. The To Import Folder) and click Save.

This method will preserve any attachments that are still in PowerMail’s Attachments folder. Attachments that you have moved out of that folder will be preserved so long as PowerMail can still track where they were moved to. The message status and label are not preserved.

The Capture Key

Select some folders or messages and press the capture key. This method is very convenient, and it preserves the message status and label, but (due to limitations of PowerMail) it does not preserve the attachments.

Importing via Apple Mail

Because of PowerMail’s limitations with attachments, you may find it easier to import via Apple Mail for full message fidelity. If your mail is stored on the server in IMAP mailboxes, you can simply configure Apple Mail to access the same mail account. You can still use PowerMail for your regular e-mail needs, then follow the instructions in the Importing Mail From Apple Mail section when it’s time to import into EagleFiler.
