3.6.6   Importing Mail From MailMate

Importing the Selected Messages as Message Files

There is a built-in bundle for importing from EagleFiler. First, go to the Bundles tab of MailMate’s settings window and make sure that EagleFiler is checked. Then you can select messages in MailMate and choose Command ‣ EagleFiler ‣ Add to import them into EagleFiler. This will preserve any IMAP keywords from MailMate as tags in EagleFiler.

Importing the Selected Messages as Mailbox Files

MailMate also includes a bundle that adds the Command ‣ Export ‣ Copy to mbox command, which exports the messages in mbox format. You can then import the mbox into EagleFiler. This is the most efficient way of importing from MailMate.

Manually Importing Message Files

You can import individual messages from MailMate by dragging and dropping them or by using the File ‣ Export… command to create a .eml or .pdf file.

To import a whole mailbox, use the File ‣ Export… command to create a folder of .eml files. (If you have lots of .eml files in EagleFiler, you may want to merge them.)

Automatically Importing Messages

You can set MailMate to automatically import all messages added to a particular mailbox (even the inbox) to EagleFiler:

  1. Select the mailbox and choose Mailbox ‣ Edit Mailbox….
  2. Click on the Rules tab.
  3. Click + to create a new rule.
  4. Set the Description to EagleFiler Import.
  5. Click the + button at the bottom of the window to create an action.
  6. Click on Move to Mailbox and change it to Run Command.
  7. Click on No script selected and change it to EagleFiler ‣ Add.
  8. Click OK to save the rule.

Opening Messages in MailMate

You can use Open With or Always Open With to open EagleFiler’s copy of a message in MailMate.
