6.6   Use custom icon for mounted image

Normally when a disk image is mounted, it shows up on the desktop with a plain white icon that looks like a hard drive. With this option checked, DropDMG will customize the icon based on the contents of the image. If the top level of the image contains an application, DropDMG will badge the application’s icon onto the white drive icon. Or, if you create an image from a single file, DropDMG will badge that file’s icon onto the drive. This option is ignored when creating an image by converting.

To use a custom icon of your own design, save your icon at the top level of the folder from which the image will be created. The name of the icon file must be .VolumeIcon.icns, and the file must be in icns format. The easiest way to save an image in this format is to use the Convert Graphic to “.VolumeIcon.icns”… command in DropDMG’s File menu.
