This option lets you set a maximum size for image files or StuffIt archives. If an image requires more space than the set limit, DropDMG will split it into two or more files.
To burn segments to disc, you should use DropDMG’s Burn Folder/File… command. Some common media types can accommodate segments of approximately these sizes:
although capacities may vary slightly, as will the sizes of the segments produced by the disk imaging engine.
To mount a segmented image or expand a segmented archive, open the first file of the segments. The segments will be joined automatically so long as they are all in the same folder.
To split an existing image into smaller pieces, set the segment size and then drag the image file onto DropDMG’s status window.
